Our rationale

Social memory, not social media.

Little Duck Pond is built on one idea: the photos of the people we love should live somewhere quieter than a feed.

Why a Pond

The internet gave us oceans: endless, public, churning, impossible to hold. A pond is the opposite. It's small. It's local. You know who's in it. Water flows in from the people you actually know, and it flows back out to them — nothing washes in from strangers, nothing washes out to the open sea.

A pond is also shared. It isn't a locked drawer of photos only you can see, and it isn't a broadcast tower shouting at everyone. It's a shared surface between people who already care about each other. You lean over the edge, you see what the people you love have been up to, and you leave.

That's what this app is. A small body of water between the people who belong in each other's lives.

Photos are access, not copies

On social networks, sharing a photo means giving it away. Once it's uploaded, screenshotted, reshared, cached, and indexed, it isn't yours anymore. You can delete the post; you can't delete the copies.

Here, sharing is access. Your photos stay yours. When you share with someone, their frame is granted permission to display the photo — not to own it. Change your mind, untag a person, remove a relationship: the next time their frame refreshes, the photo is gone. No takedown request. No copies to chase.

Memories, not Favorites

Every other app calls this a Favorite. A star. A heart. A metric.

We call it a Memory because that's what it actually is. When you mark a photo as a Memory, you're not rating it — you're saying this one matters. It's the picture you want to see again on a quiet Sunday. It's the one you want your mom to see on her frame. It's the one that, years from now, you'll want to build a small slideshow from and sit with for a few minutes.

Memories are the raw material for the slideshows this app will build for you — moments pulled forward on their own, without you having to dig.

Favorites are for feeds. Memories are for lives.

What we deliberately left out

  • · No likes. No comments. No public counts.
  • · No followers, no discovery, no recommended people.
  • · No algorithm choosing what your family sees.
  • · No ads. Your photos are not training data.

We took these out on purpose. Every one of them turns a memory into a metric, and a person into an audience.

Who this is for

People who have a small number of people they love and a large number of photos of them. Grandparents, parents, siblings, close friends. People who want the photo of their grandkid on the frame in the kitchen — not on a platform that will outlive the relationship and monetize the picture forever.

If you're looking for reach, this is the wrong place. If you're looking for presence — the people you love, quietly showing up in your day — this is the pond.

If you already have an account, welcome back — enjoy your memories.
